Instructions
We often load cardboard boxes with more weight than recommended, and this can cause the cardboard to break when trying to lift them for transport, hindering or making the transport task difficult. But avoiding these situations is as easy as having the following simple materials:
- A cardboard box
- Seal
- (optional: Manual sealing machine)
Steps to follow:
- Upside down : Turn the box upside down to apply the seal to the base.
- Flaps : Fold the flaps, the inner ones first (these are usually the ones on the side of the handles of the box structure) and then the outer ones.
- Flag : We apply the packing tape in a spiderweb or star shape, starting by applying the tape along the 2 outer flaps and creating a network that interweaves several strips of tape to reinforce the structure.
- We seal it : We make sure that the seal is perfectly adhered; to do this, we will run our hands over the entire surface of the tape so that no air remains between it and the surface of the cardboard.
- Closing : We turn the box over and place it right-side up, put all the items to be stored inside, and label it before closing (in case we forgot to store something).
The trick is to make a kind of mesh like a spiderweb; this design that arachnids use to trap their prey is also the most efficient for keeping the structure of the box together and allowing it to withstand the weight we add to it, as it distributes and doses the tension better.
